An individual who laced sweets with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She explained Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his family member had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor said objects including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained Ruben went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement a second time.
She stated Ruben then played the "treat game" in a space of five children.
